Hurricane Florence, Harvey and Irma have affected homes, homeowners and their families all across the country, including those in the James Hardie family. In the process of recovering from these disasters, many have contacted us for guidance about repairing or replacing their James Hardie brand products.
Fiber cement products are highly resistant to flood damage. However, other components of the walls of your home may be less resistant to flood damage and may need to be cleaned or replaced. This cleaning and replacement work may require the removal and replacement of your James Hardie backer or siding products. Also, when properly installed, your Hardie® siding is rated for the wind resistance specified by your local building code. Winds from recent storms may have exceeded the rating specified by your local building code and damaged your siding to the point where it should be replaced.
