Company's HardieShingle® siding, HardieTrim® boards to be featured on Labor Day broadcast
CHICAGO (August 28, 2013) - Fans of the interactive DIY Network series Blog Cabin will get an up-close look at durable, beautiful James Hardie Building Products fiber cement siding this fall, as it protects the 2013 project home, a coastal cottage situated along North Carolina's Crystal Coast. James Hardie HardieShingle® siding in Light Mist, with HardieTrim® boards in Arctic White, was chosen by popular Internet vote earlier this year, and will be highlighted on the DIY Network at 9 p.m. EDT/PDT Monday, Sept. 2 (Labor Day) on the program Desperate Landscapes, and a one-hour Blog Cabin 2013 special, hosted by tool expert Chris Grundy, at 9 p.m. EDT/PDT Thursday, Sept. 12.
The chosen James Hardie siding, featuring the company's ColorPlus® Technology, will also be shown on Blog Cabin 2013 segments broadcast throughout September on four other DIY Network programs: Kitchen Crashers, Bath Crashers, Yard Crashers and Mega Dens; check local listings for air dates and times. Perhaps best of all, viewers can win the Blog Cabin 2013 home featuring James Hardie siding by entering twice daily online – once at DIYNetwork.com and once at HGTVRemodels.com – until 5 p.m. EDT/PDT Friday, Sept. 13.
"James Hardie is excited our HardieShingle siding and HardieTrim boards are playing such an integral role in Blog Cabin 2013's project home," said John Dybsky, Senior Marketing Manager, James Hardie. "We believe our siding is better formulated than vinyl or wood-based siding to stand up to both everyday and extreme weather conditions the home will face in the future. Our HardieShingle siding provides a look and feel that's similar to the home's original cedar shakes, but it's lower maintenance and stands up to environmental factors better than vinyl or wood-based siding. With HardieShingle siding in Light Mist and HardieTrim boards in Arctic White, viewers also chose a gorgeous color palette."
James Hardie siding is Engineered for Climate®, making it the only siding that is uniquely formulated for the climate in which a home is located. In the case of the Blog Cabin 2013, the installed James Hardie siding will protect the structure from the coastal wind, rain and winter cold. It's fire- and water-resistant and has been accepted by hurricane-zone building codes for homes in hurricane- and wildfire-prone areas. James Hardie siding is also pre-finished with the company's ColorPlus Technology, an advanced coating formula that's baked on for maximum durability and longer-lasting beauty. Unlike vinyl siding, James Hardie siding resists burning, melting, sagging and fading, and unlike wood-based siding, it resists warping, rotting, cracking and burning.
The People's Choice component of Blog Cabin 2013 allowed viewers to vote for every design decision and material for the renovation. James Hardie HardieShingle siding in Light Mist, with HardieTrim boards in Arctic White, was selected during the People's Choice portion of Blog Cabin 2013 in January. Out of more than 200,000 total votes for exterior siding, pattern and layout products, those products received 39 percent of the vote.
Located in Atlantic, N.C., and just steps from the Atlantic Ocean, the Blog Cabin 2013 project home was originally a one-room cedar shake cottage. It was built in the mid-1800s as a 300-square-foot dwelling and expanded several times to its current eight-room, 1,600-square-foot state. Blog Cabin 2013, including James Hardie HardieShingle siding and HardieTrim boards, is helping preserve its classic cottage style, but will last longer with lower maintenance, Dybsky said.
