James Hardie employees joined more than 200 volunteers on Saturday, Oct. 6 for United Way's Labor of Love effort to fix and repair houses in the greater Peru, Illinois, area before winter.
Labor of Love is an annual one-day blitz to rehabilitate homes for the poor, elderly, and disabled. Eight James Hardie team members participated and helped a homeowner in Sheridan, Illinois, with several repairs to her home.
The repairs included: replacing the main bedroom ceiling because of water damage; reparing a kitchen wall and window that had water damage due to improper installation; replacing exterior window trim and adding flashing to seal all windows; installing a hand railing on the exterior deck stairs; extending a water drain to direct rain water away from the house; repairing and stabilizing front steps.
Thank you to Rick Derossett, Mike Hagerty, Jenna Humphrey, Matt Schoch, Joe Shea, Doug Fletcher, and Saralyn Fletcher, Jeff Schoch for helping make the community a better place.
