The ability of the S.I.S. team was on full display with their entry to the #MyHardieHomecontest, which invited homeowners, contractors, and builders to post beautiful photos of their fully finished projects that use James Hardie brand products.
The project that S.I.S. submitted highlighted their thoughtful design, which helped give an old home character, visual texture and a lot of style.
The overall aesthetic for this project was driven by the team at S.I.S. and features striking dark colors and bold accents, which is a stark but welcome contrast from the aging cedar siding that was on the home.
The design was intended to deliver a tasteful visual palette by limiting the use of materials on the front of the home, while strategically mixing materials elsewhere.
To give the one-story house the illusion of height, S.I.S.’s designer recommended HardiePanel® vertical siding in a board-and-batten look, along with HardieShingle® siding accents, both with ColorPlus® Technology finishes in Aged Pewter. The homeowners opted to complete the look with black windows, which look gorgeous against the dark siding and the stone at the bottom of the elevation.
The dark palette is a hot trend in the Calgary area, with increasing popularity in the U.S. Jody Roberts, the owner of S.I.S., said they use the Aged Pewter color on about 60% of their jobs.
S.I.S. said the homeowners were thrilled about the total transformation of their home. The project has even caught the attention of others interested in working with the company.
Recently, another homeowner asked about design services offered by S.I.S. and the company sent the winning #MyHardieHome photo as an example. The team received an enthusiastic response from the homeowner, who instantly booked an appointment.
Beyond the products’ design flexibility, S.I.S. Renovation Consultant Alanna Foster said that homeowners also appreciate Hardie® siding for its long-term durability and weather resistance.
