While Vicky L. and her husband bought their Colonial-style house outside of Philadelphia just a few years ago, the exterior was stuck in the 1980s.
“It was the original siding on the house and it was supposed to be bright yellow, but it had faded so much over time. It looked so old and outdated,” she said.
It was time to replace the aluminum siding. Initially, Vicky began exploring vinyl siding as a replacement option, but was neither thrilled with the overall look of the products, nor the cost.
“It wasn’t that much different in price to do the HardiePlank® lap siding compared to some of the more reasonable or higher priced vinyl contractors,” she said. “We initially thought that vinyl would be more in our budget, but it turns out James Hardie was in our budget, which was definitely our preferred choice.”
Vicky also knew the product would perform well on her home. Her father-in-law had previously replaced the siding on his beach house with Hardie® fiber cement siding in Deep Ocean. While the saltwater had destroyed the old siding, the Hardie® siding “looked amazing” without any sign of wear.
The feature that most attracted Vicky to Jame's Hardie's offering of exterior siding and trim products was the range of prefinished color options, “and the fact that we could pick a custom color if we wanted to.”
Hardie® siding products are available nationwide in more than 700 colors through the Statement Collection™ and Dream Collection™ lineups. While Vicky initially thought she would opt for a custom color, she gravitated toward Iron Gray with stone accents.
The siding was installed by Porter Family Contracting, an Elite Preferred member of the James Hardie Contractor Alliance™ Program.
“Their crew was great,” Vicky said. “Justin Porter was wonderful, I would recommend him to just about anybody.”
Now Vicky is rid of her faded yellow siding and has a very stylish home.
“The project finished months ago and we still have people saying 'wow, it looks so great,'” Vicky said. “Compliments left and right. We’ve had people stop us as we’re pulling out of the driveway just to tell us how nice our house is.”
